Mary Magdalene - The Lord's Wife

Alice Peterson suffers from postpartum depression. Her gynecologist refers her to Donald Silverstein, a psychiatrist who specializes in hypnotic regression therapy (HRT). During hypnosis, Alice reveals that in a past life, she was Mary Magdalene. Throughout 9 hypnotic sessions, she describes in precise chronographic, geographic, and historical details, her life in Jesus’ times. Faced with questions such as: Was Jesus a poor carpenter born in Bethlehem? Did he have other siblings? Did he believe he was the son of God? Did he resurrect? She answers these questions in excruciating detail, because she was there. She tells Dr. Silverstein about the Lord’s real birthplace, his education, social status, youth, ministry, trial, judgment, crucifixion, burial, and resurrection. She also tells him about their wedding, their daughter, her ministry, and her disagreements with Peter.
The author understands most churches still do not agree that Jesus could have had carnal love. Although the theory has been floated around, it is not one accepted by many Christians. To them, Mary Magdalene was a female apostle, and Jesus loved her as He loved his other disciples. The book portrays the life of Jesus from his wife’s perspective. It deviates from, and in some instances contradicts, the churches’ orthodox portrayal of the Son of God.
Mr. Giuseppe is a committed Christian, and as such, believes in the divinity of Jesus, and the teachings of his faith. He understands why for many it would not be considered possible, or tolerable, to believe that Our Lord was married. Only after listening to the tapes, and reading the medical reports, and transcripts of the hypnotic sessions, he decided to go ahead with this project.
